We are delighted once again to have two winners from Potton Middle School in this years Royal Opera House Fanfare competition.
The annual Fanfare competition is open to 11-18 year-olds and gives young people the opportunity to create a short piece of music to let the audience know to return to their seats during the intervals of performances of opera and ballet. Winners of the competition will be invited to the Royal Opera House to attend an orchestration workshop in March, where they will develop their compositions with educator/composer Steven Berryman. They attend a recording day in April where they will hear their music come to life, played by members of the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House under the direction of Music Director of The Royal Opera Sir Antonio Pappano.
The winning Fanfares will then be played at performances throughout the 2018/19 Season.
Our winners this year, Meera Kofkin and Abgail Mc Donald have received a lovely letter acknowledging their success from Rt Hon Alistair Burt MP.
Well done girls, we are extremely proud of your achievement.
